Nivia Padhy is an intern at A Freeman’s Place Counseling and is pursuing a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling at William James College. Nivia has completed coursework in Trauma Therapy and Treatment, Family Therapy, and Substance Use and Addiction Evaluation and Treatment, among others, which have provided insight into one's emotional well-being and relationships. Nivia is passionate about supporting children and adults who are navigating trauma, anxiety, stress, and difficult life transitions. Her approach is warm, compassionate, and empowering, with a focus on helping clients build confidence, develop healthy coping skills, and recognize their own strengths as they work toward healing. Nivia utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and a person-centered approach in her therapeutic work.

As a Hispanic woman raised in Brooklyn, Nivia understands the importance of culture, identity, family, and life experiences in shaping who you are. She believes that clients are the experts in their own lives and have the ability to discover solutions that are meaningful to them. As a therapist, Nivia provides a supportive, safe, and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their experiences and work toward positive change at their own pace.
