Testimonials from our Interns

  • "I'm so thankful to have been a part of AFPC. It's been a truly rewarding journey, and so happy I decided to do my internship here. Thank you for extending this opportunity to me. Celeste has been a great supervisor and example to follow too, and the staff has made me grow immensely as a professional. I'm truly grateful. "

  • My time at AFPC was invaluable as I received ample opportunities to refine my own therapeutic voice. I learned that there are many different approaches to therapy, and the importance of learning from multiple sources as they all have something to contribute. I appreciated opportunities to grow as a professional and was made to feel very much a valued part of the AFPC team. I was very excited to be able to run my own groups at AFPC and utilize my individual skills as a musician to help youth clients. Additionally, I found my discussions with my supervisors to be both enlightening and rewarding.

  • This internship gave me a strong foundation in clinical practice and helped me grow in my confidence and understanding of what it means to provide effective outpatient mental health care. I learned how to plan sessions intentionally, adjust my approach based on client needs, and manage a diverse caseload. On a personal level, the internship pushed me to grow in self- awareness and confidence. The experience also taught me the importance of adhering to the principles of social work, setting boundaries, practicing self-care, finding my voice and style, and being present with clients while also reflecting on my own reactions and biases. My favorite part of the internship experience was the collaborative side and learning from the other clinicians. Being surrounded by experienced LAC, LPC, and LSW gave me the chance to observe different therapeutic styles, approaches, and interventions over the course of my time at AFPC. I was constantly picking up new insights. I also appreciated how open and supportive the team was.
